As a Tern mystery shopper, you can visit businesses, make enquiries, or place orders online or by phone as a genuine customer, then completing a survey about the service you received.
Anyone over the age of 18 can become a mystery shopper with Tern. We’ll provide clear instructions for each assignment, so you’ll know exactly what’s expected.
Joining Tern is 100% free via our Shopper Portal. Once approved, you can log in to view and apply for available mystery shopping jobs near you.
Mystery shopping fees vary depending on the assignment. Some include a set fee, reimbursement for a purchase, or both. All details are shown before you accept a job.
You can take on any assignments that are available to you and we will not allocate you any visits you don’t want to complete! Opportunities depend on your location, reliability, and previous performance. If you no longer wish to complete a visit, please contact us to let us know.
Yes, many of our mystery shops can be completed from home, such as a phone or online enquiry.

Anyone can do video mystery shopping if you have the correct equipment. You can use any brand covert button-hole camera which can be purchased from https://www.lawmate.uk.net
Payments are made weekly, via a BACS payment. Full payment details will be available in your shopper profile.
As a Tern mystery shopper, you will be considered self-employed. More information on how tax works as a self-employed person can be found at https://www.gov.uk/income-tax-rates
